Phoenix Productions were normally known for their Ultimate In Hardcore 1992 and 1993 single
tape series which later morphed into the Studio Line double packs and mostly concentrated on
breakbeat and early jungle sounds.
However they had already flirted with techno releasing the amazing Dave Angel - Master
Trance Mix Vol 1 in early 1993 so when this four pack was released later in 1993 it wasnt a
total suprise. Bringing Colin Dale and Colin Faver who at the time ruled the airwaves with their
respective shows on Kiss FM was a no brainer.
What was contained within these mixes was a broad spectrum of the UK techno scene at the
time from ambient styles, to Detroit futurism, on to European acid and emerging UK artists
like Bandulu, Reload and Spiral Tribe.
